Northern HR is delighted to now offer a Training Suite built to give our clients and their employees the confidence and practical skills required to handle today’s complex peoplemanagement challenges.

Delivered in person by our experienced HR and training professionals, each session uses real workplace scenarios to demonstrate not only what the law requires, but what managers should do, say and record when issues arise.

The interactive sessions are designed around the HR challenges that organisations face every day – including:

  • Management essentials: Set expectations, give feedback, handle challenging conversations, motivate & delegate.
  • Sexual harassment awareness: Understand legal duties & spot issues early.
  • Disciplinary processes: Be confident with investigations & difficult conversations.
  • Grievances: Handle concerns fairly and consistently with clear communication.
  • Managing absence: Short and long-term absence & returns to work.
  • Working parents’ rights: Avoid discrimination & balance business needs.
  • Flexible working requests: Assess and respond fairly, consistently & legally.
  • Performance management: Set expectations & address underperformance.
  • Recruitment skills: Improve hiring with better interviews & clearer roles.
  • Onboarding, induction & probation: Structured & effective management.
  • Maternity and paternity leave: Manage entitlements confidently & clearly.

A significant proportion of tribunal cases stem from leaders and people managers not having the awareness to prevent issues early, despite being expected to handle a wide range of issues, often without any formal training.

By taking advantage of the courses within our HR Training Suite, you can help to set employee expectations, strengthen your culture and improve communication by empowering managers to address issues earlier and more effectively.

HR Services Lead Paula Ingham believes the benefits of training extend far beyond individual capability.

“When managers are equipped with the right skills and understanding, the impact is felt across the whole organisation,” explained Paula. “Processes become more consistent. Issues are dealt with earlier. Employees experience clearer communication and fairer outcomes, and people feel better supported because managers are more confident and capable.”
